2026 Bob Mishler Awards Nominations
The Las Vegas New Mexico Community Foundation is proud to announce the 2026 Bob Mishler Awards. Bob Mishler, a professor emeritus of Highlands University, was a passionate advocate for the Las Vegas community and a prominent figure in the development of several community organizations. In 2017, Bob and several other community members established the Foundation
with the hopes of igniting the spirit of philanthropy. Sadly, Bob died in 2020 but his compassionate spirit and commitment live on. This annual award will recognize a member of our community who exemplifies the legacy of Bob Mishler.
Nominations for awards will be solicited from the public and local nonprofit organizations.
The Mishler Community Impact Award recipient will be someone with more than 20 years of service and will include a grant of $1,000 to the awardee’s non-profit of choice in San Miguel or Mora Counties.
An Emerging Community Leader Award recipient will also be recognized who demonstrates early but meaningful impact in the community and has a clear path of sustained growth and continued impact.
The Community Foundation seeks nominations of community members who have:
had a tangible and sustainable impact on their community in San Miguel or Mora Counties
consistently promoted positive values and behaviors
brought people together to work on improving an aspect of their community
demonstrated a commitment to diversity and inclusivity
gone beyond “the call of duty” and done this work above their regular work commitments
currently reside in Mora or San Miguel County
Nomination letters must describe the nominee’s contributions to the community in terms of activities and service, length and degree of service and also cite evidence detailing the impact on the community.
Judging will be based on:
Lasting and meaningful contribution to the community
Length and degree of service
Commitment outside of paid employment
Ability to bring different groups of people together with a shared vision
